The Grimsby Town Youth Soccer Club is holding tryouts for the 2019 season for a U8 boys festival soccer team that would play travel soccer in the Niagara Soccer League under the Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) guidelines set out by Ontario Soccer. The U8 festival team is for players that may be interested in travel soccer in future seasons.
The 2019 U8 boys’ festival team is for players born in 2011 that want to play house league soccer in Grimsby (Mondays) and travel soccer in the Niagara region (Fridays). Ideally, the team will be comprised of up to 20 players that will be rotated onto the team every other week to get exposure to travel soccer. The expectation is that players will have one travel practice per week in addition to any house league practices. Players must be registered for the 2019 season with the GTYSC to participate.
Tryouts are scheduled on Thursday May 16 & Friday May 17 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Smith field 5 located at 10 Oakes Road North, Grimsby, ON, L3M 4A9
Please note:
- Players need to be registered to play in 2019 with the Grimsby Town Youth Soccer Club in order to be eligible to take part in the festival team.
- Players are encouraged (but not required) to attend both tryout dates.
- There is no cost to try out.
- For the selected players, the cost for the festival team is $50 (additional to the regular GTYSC house league registration fee).
- The festival team(s) play on Friday evenings either in Grimsby or at various soccer clubs located throughout the Niagara region.
